Monday's are all about Heroes

Present Hiro and Future Hiro work together to save mankind on tomorrow night's episode of "Heroes." It makes sense if you watch the show, trust us.

In this clip, which picks up right where last week left off, Future Hiro tells Present Hiro that he has figured out the exact moment in time to travel back to -- in order to stop the bomb from destroying New York City. No sweat.

"Heroes" airs Monday night at 8:00 PM on global in Canada and 9pm on NBC in the States

Alec Baldwin screams at Dora the Explorer

I still sort of like Alec baldwin but I found this to funny not to post

Disturbia was a great Film for a teen Flick.

I wasn't expecting much from the new Teen Flick "Disturbia" In the previews it looked like a cheesy remake of "Rear Window". It turned out to be a really good movie. It wasn't all about blood and gore like the the "Saw" films but it still had me jumping in my seat a few times. The guys over at ASL Movie heads did a really cute review

Anybody else think this looks like a human fishing rod?

This "Home Swimmer" contraption scares the living daylights out of me. No, not in the same way that Mike Yamamoto runs screaming every time he hears the words "hello" and "kitty" in the same sentence, but it's still creepy. Why? Because it looks like a fishing rod. The Home Swimmer is supposed to enable "stationary swimming" if you happen to have a small pool that doesn't cater to lap swimming, but it looks like a fishing rod.

The guy in this photograph looks like he's attempting (in vain) to escape some kind of monstrous angler who hooked him in the pants. Nice fodder for a New Yorker cartoon, but in real life, this is just too unnerving. It costs $69.95, which will buy you a few months' membership at the local YMCA. Do us all a favor and go join a community pool instead.

Save internet radio! Internet Radio Equality Act introduced into congress

A bill has been introduced that will save independent internet radio by setting these royalties at the same level paid by satellite radio services, and nullifying the CRB royalty rate that was in many cases several times the total gross revenues for indie webcasters. Call your congressman and ask them to support this bill!

You still have to wait for a wii

The Nintendo Wii was released nearly six months ago, and still they're impossible to find in stores. And, insanely enough, demand is still so high that these shortages could go on for a few more months. Nintendo VP of Marketing and Corporate Affairs had this to say about the supply issues:

"There is a lot going on behind the scenes in terms of working on what we are producing and the numbers continue to rise but the product is so very popular that we may see a supply / demand situation last for some time."

This is pretty insane. Has there been another product out there that's seen such high demand and shortages over such a long period of time? Could it be impossible to find a Wii without a lot of effort for a full year? Is demand really this high, or is supply just taking its sweet time to get to stores? And when is Super Mario Galaxy coming out, anyways?

Internet overtakes Radio, Is the death blow far away.

So listeners of radio are down another year and it looks like internet will overtake radio sales a lot quicker .
Internet advertising is forecast to overtake worldwide radio advertising a year early, having already surpassed national newspapers in the U.K. and Sweden. A new global advertising forecast by Zenith Optimedia media buying network, predicts the Web will surpass radio advertising next year rather than in 2009, as forecast at the end of 2006..

What do you think about this?

MPAA says "No more smoking for you Hollywood!"

Have you ever seen the movie "Thank you for Smoking" If not let me tell you the the basics. A Pro-Smoking lobbyist (Arron Eckhart) attempts to convince a Hollywood producer to inject people smoking in all his films. So more Americans would start smoking. There is a political battle between Eckhart and William H Macy an anti-smoking Governor. Who is trying to ban smoking in films. Hyjinks insure and the whole thing is Very Fuuny.

What does that have to do with the real world you ask? Well it looks like a real life battle is happening now MPAA is trying to stop smoking for real in films and there asking an Ivy league school for help.

The MPAA asked Harvard for advice on how to handle movie smoking. Harvard's response? "We're suggesting that they take smoking out of youth accessible films: G, PG and PG-13, which make up 85% of all movies." And the MPAA is listening.

The MPAA has a relatively new boss—Dan Glickman—and as we reported earlier this week, he's making some moves. The organization has come down on revolting ads for the horror film Captivity, perhaps hoping to impress the government with its responsiveness on the issue of Hollywood selling violence in a manner that reaches children. With the Federal Trade Commission about to release a report on that issue, Glickman's actions may be too little, too late. And the MPAA could have similar problems when it comes to smoking.

Powerful anti-smoking groups have been pushing the MPAA to slap any movie that shows smoking with an automatic R rating, unless that movie deals with a historical figure who actually smoked (think Good Night and Good Luck) or shows people suffering hideous consequences as a result of their folly. According to the research of a group called Smoke Free Movies, most PG-13 movies depict smoking, and that contributes to hundreds of thousands of kids taking up cigarettes.read more
Do you think Kids start smoking becuase they watch it in a Movie? Do you think any movie with smoking should be rated R? Leave a comment and tell me what you think

Friday means Movie Night

Today is Good Friday so not a lot is going on today in my life and it's a slow news day.
But what is making news is the new movie " The Grindhouse" . The Film itself is two movies in one. It's a Double Feature like that used to have in the 70's and I guess the 80's. {side note I once went to a double showing of "Ten Things I Hate About You" and "Mystery Alaska". let me tell you sitting 2 hours in those crap movies was rough} But thats beside the point. This movie looks awesome. The plot summary goes like
An homage to exploitation B-movie thrillers that combines two feature-length segments into one double-bill designed to replicate the grind house theatergoing experience of the 70s and 80s. In "Death Proof," a psycho named Stuntman Mike (Kurt Russell) stalks and kills beautiful women with his car. In "Planet Terror," a small-town sheriffs' department has to deal with an outbreak of murderous, infected people called "sickos." A gun-legged woman named Cherry (Rose McGowan) and her martial arts-wielding partner (Freddy Rodriguez) take on the zombie army. The two films will be fused together by fake movie trailers.
Rose McGowan has a gun for a Leg which makes the movie worth a go all by itself. Here is the Trailer

Heroes becoming interactive with new promostion

By going to the Primatech website and filling out a "job application," you will receive text messages from Hana( aka Wireless) in which she conveys "secret" information about the Company. Thus, while we are piecing together the mysteries of the show, so is Hana — and she's providing us with clues to boot.

According to a new NBC press release, Hana will send viewers directions about how to help her, and the fans' actions will somehow influence the next episode of "Heroes":
Starting April 9th, Hana ... will enlist fans to help with her plans to thwart Linderman's plots. The top-secret online activity will actually interact with the on-air story and will pay off in the Monday, April 23rd episode, when "Heroes" returns to the NBC lineup.
This is a cool interactive project for NBC. It's a great way to get fans more involved.

Check out the Heroes website for more info

Nelly May have when 5 JUNOs but no one was Watching

Last week Nelly Furtado won 5 Junos( the Canadian equivalent to the grammys) at the Junos Awards that she also hosted. Sadly, according to Media in Canada the show was down a quarter of a million.

Sunday night's 2007 JUNO Awards on CTV finished with a national average audience of 912,000 viewers, down from a Nielsen count of 1.225 million in 2006. Total reached peaked at 3.7 million Canadians who tuned in at some point in the broadcast. The 2005 JUNOs audience was about 1.217 million (Nielsen, 2+), while the 2004 broadcast attracted 1.343 million viewers.
The question is why? Is it because people don't support canadian music? Why do you think the rating are down?

May Day Festival

My good friend John Hall Is Organizing this Festival so I thought I would spred the word. It's going to be on May 5 at 27 King William St.Hamilton, Ontario

The overall theme of the festival is to celebrate radical culture – all of those diverse groups working to change the madness of our current system in the direction of peace, equality, ecological sustainability and creative human potential. We’re very interested in this event as a way to bring together people, and organizations, that might not normally get in contact.

The event is also heavily influenced by aesthetic/ revolutionary philosophy that sees art and all kinds of spontaneous, creative expression as powerful vehicles for radical change. The goal of the street festival is to create another world for a day – a place where we can live out the possibilities normally silenced by classist, racist, militaristic and patriarchal society.

It is also going to be a damned good party as Mayday will bring us together to celebrate progressive culture and the many talents existing in our community.

The Lookout a Great Film

So Jenny and I saw the new Movie "The Lookout" last night. It stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jeff Daniels, Matthew Goode, and Isla Fisher and directed by Scott Frank. Levitt plays Chris Pratt who is left mentally and emotionally handicapped after a traumatic automobile accident. Living with his blind roommate (Daniels), he spends his days going to rehabilitation classes and his nights working for the local bank.

One night Chris is befriended by an old classmate named Gary (Goode), who quickly introduces him to a life of partying and enjoyment while increasingly involving him in a plan to take advantage of Chris's position at the bank.

It was a really good film. I was captivated thou out the whole film and couldn't wait to see what happend next. The ending of the film was great. Levitt does an amazing performance. I read Oscar buzz. Anyone who loves a good crime story will love this film.

here are a few pictures from the film
